My computer does not goto windows anymore instead it goes to the startup screen and says NTLDR missing. I was told that all i need to do is repair windows. So I followed the steps you provided in "Repair Windows XP" BUT, on the third step, where I must press"R" nothing happens and no new screen comes up with the installation guide. I dont want to delete anything that is on my hard disk i just want to repair windows so it goes back to the way it used to be before it crashed. |

Dear Jasmine,
Just to confirm, first you got the Windows Setup screen and you pressed Enter to setup windows.
Then you got the second screen with the Terms and Conditions and you pressed F8 to accept and continue installation.
Then, do you get a third screen (Yes or No), and if Yes does it show you anything or the system just hangs (your screen is just blue or you have something written on it or what does it look like?).
By the way, what brand of computer do you have, what is your CPU, do you have a second hard drive and have you done anything else before that may (to your opinion) interfere with this reparation? |

If you can no longer do a repair install or find it too complicated, DO NOT reformat and reinstall as this will wipe you out and leave you with nothing but the operating system. You would have to reinstall all your programs and much of your data would be inaccessible.
