Hello,

I have a prob with my (desktop,) pc. On the whole it is working fine but
for some reason I cannot log onto my e-mails from Yahoo or msn. I can get
into messenger on yahoo.

My isp, (aol,) has given me info to sort it and I have followed it to the
letter but it still has not corrected the problem.

I am on xp pro.

Thank you.

Hi John,

Since I'm not sure of what type of troubleshooting you have done with the "expert" at AOL, one quick solution I could suggest is to install Firefox on your computer for internet Surfing/Browsing (since you may have changed your cookies setting or have Removed/Corrupted your security certificates...).

As a fresh install, this Browser has all the default settings right for you to access Yahoo mail (and is much more secure).

I hope that will solve your problem

Is it the only error message you get?

Do you have an antivirus, antispyware, firewall, PROXY server or anything of such nature? Have you tried to access Yahoo mail with them OFF?

Yes it is the only message I get.

I have McAfee antivirus and firewall. And have tried with both Off!
I don't know what is a proxy and don't have a spyware protection.

- I must guess that you have been able to access your Yahoo mail from another computer?

- Just to make sure, I must ask you if there is any pop ups or a bar on top of the page or in the bottom corner or anywhere else that popped up when you tried to access yahoo mail (turn on your speakers, you may hear a beep).

- Do you know if you have "Administrator" privileges on your login account
(To check go to Control Panel>> User Accounts>> Change an Account and you'll see the accounts available and their privileges.
**If you are an administrator, have you tried Disabling McAfee
Privacy Service**

- Otherwise are you able to uninstall McAfee, test your browser (and then
reinstall the antivirus obviously) Follow this link if you are willing to
try:

Let me know how things went.

I don't know how to thank you?

I followed your procedure and now I can access Yahoo mail from my computer.
I simply disabled McAfee Privacy Service and now it works!

Thank you very much.

If you can't get there because you need to enable cookies, I can help you.

Go to the tools menu up at the top of the Internet Explorer or you can get there in the control panel. From there you need to open the Internet options and then click on the privacy tab.

Next click on the advanced button and look at the picture on the link below to see what has to be checked. Then hit apply and close or OK.
