First check if you are able to boot in "Safe Mode", that would mean that you have driver issue.
The second thing would be check if the hard drive is damaged. You can download UBCD ( http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html ), burn it to CD, set BIOS boot priority to your CD drive, put the cd that you just burnt in the drive, restart computer, and let it boot from the cd. Then simply choose the hard drive testing tool, run the full scan to find out if the hard drive is damaged. Using the same CD you should also check if the RAM sticks are damaged.
That should get your computer fixed.
Cheers.

| I had a very similar problem the day before yesterday on an XP computer, XP would just freeze during start up with the blue bar that goes across the screen just stopping everytime i start up, i thought i had a virus and was about to reinstall XP but somewhere in Safe mode there was a message about a device on the pc not working but when i check Device manager they all seemed perfect but i just got a hunch to uninstall the telephone modem i had put in a few weeks ago and Thank God since then everything is ok, pc boots everytime. Fingers crossed! I would love to know how to find a faulty device on my pc if XP does not recognise it in Device manager? |

one problem i am suspicious at is if it is caused by my SPEAKERS since two days ago i changed my desk and placed one of the Speaker sattelites right beside the CPU like 4 inch from the HDD ---- if thats the cause what SHOULD I DO NOW. note:that my speakers are shielded. i dont think its because of this.
