Hello everyone I am new here and have a question. I recently purchased a used computer with XP Pro installed but did not get the disk. I used Magical jelly bean key finder and it gave me the key and said not installed or not supported. The key matches the coa sticker on the machine but what does the message mean not installed or not supported? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks for any advice Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

Is "not installed or not supported" the exact message that you received? Does Windows ask you to activate your product? Have you tried changing the key? Is your computer an HP?

So many different reasons Jimmy, we need more info!

Hello and thanks for trying to help. I used a program to find my product key and the program gave me the key but also the message
"not installed or not supported" I bought this computer off of ebay with no OS disc. They key matches the coa sticker on the computer. The computer runs fine and Ive had no trouble with it. I just wanted the key in case I ever need to reformat or reinstall windows XP Pro. I was wondering what the message could mean. I would normally just put linux or ubuntu on and forget about it but this is the computer that I play my games on and I really dont know enough about Linux to know if I could play my games on their OS. Again thanks Jimmy

PS The computer is a Micron and windows has never asked me to activate my product. I also have not tried to change my key.

Nowadays, many computer are sold without CDs because Microsoft wants you to buy more of his products (officially they say it is to reduced pirate versions, but we all know the truth) and instead give a sticker (COA) with a number on it.

Sometimes, when some smart guys want to reinstall windows, but don't have original CD, they use a pirated one but with their own CD key. The only difference is that the pirate version has the activation disabled, thus explaining the message that you received.

For more info we recommend the Magical Jelly Bean forum http://www.mjbforum.com/forum/

Good luck.

Fonz.

You can get a XP license for $15 each if you buy 10. Why complain if they are making $30? I wouldn't really go worrying about it just Buy it! Since Microsoft doesn't sell XP anymore so the price has dropped. (Try to go to walmart, Staples and get XP) You'll be just fine anyways.. I have the SAME packages as in the first auction. You are buying a OEM I believe, with the booklet.
Sad thing is I had 13 Copies just like then when a PC store closed down i grabbed ALL the OS disks!
Now I have only 1 copy but no complaints here.
