I have this win32 Bzub trojan virus that my antivirus is not able to remove.

I figured I have a virus when my internet explorer window could open but was getting shut within a few seconds, and then a warning bubble was poping up from the taskbar, stating that I had some spyware and needed to download and purchase an anti-spyware.

I have tried to remove that Bzub trojan with norton antivirus, Avira antivirus. ZoneAlarm AV, spybot S&D and AdAware as well as Kaspersky.
Furthermore, I disabled the system restore, tried in windows safemode but cannot get to delete that bootvi file.

I even tried a bootable linux CD to remove that bootvi.dll file but the file is locked and cannot be deleted!

I read a few posts in this forum and tried that Smitfraud fix (with update) but nothing is working.

I have tried all my resources.

Please help

Hi Carapatte,

One of the known source of this virus is with the installation of "Webhancer Custom companion". It is a very bad trojan because it acts as a keylogger recording credit card numbers, outlook and other passwords and sends it to various destinations. It also disables Firefox and Opera internet browsers when it installs itself (because it cannot act on them!).

To remove the win32 Bzub trojan/virus, I have found a free removal tool: RegRun Reanimator (Download from http://www.greatis.com/reanimator.zip). Simply unzip and run the executable (.exe) program. Scan for viruses and it should find it, then Fix problem and Get it out.

All the best!

Hi guys! Fronz its right. Hope I will be useful. I wanted to tell you that I've experienced the same thing. the solution was to change my antivirus after reinstalling xp. I did it and till now I do not have any kind of problems with my PC.
