| My computer is starting to be very slow to start. Could it be because of some of the programs that I have installed? |

You probably have too many programs on the startup.
To fix that, press Start, then Run, then type msconfig, press Enter.
Click on the startup tab, then remove checkmark in front of all the programs that you don't usually use (note: avoid removing Microsoft programs and other programs that you don't know).
Let us know if you need more help! |

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the information.
Probably maybe you have too many things loading up at Startup and running in the background. Nearly every software program you have installed is probably doing just that. For some reason the programmers of every program seem to think you want their programs to Startup and/or run all the time! Unless it is a virus scanner or your firewall there is no reason for this behavior! These programs will start just fine whenever you decide to open them, so lets see if we can't stop them from starting up.

| It is also worth checking your scheduled log file to see if any programs are auto updating in the background... Once you have removed files from startup using msconfig your machine should boot up faster... However, if it still takes a while, maybe making a new user account will be more beneficial? As it is simple, and easy to do. |

Important changes relating to age discrimination in UK employment law became effective in October 2006, with implications for all types of appraisals and job performance and suitability assessment. Ensure your systems, training and materials for appraisals reflect current employment law. It's helpful to understand these recent laws also if you (young or old) are being appraised. The UK (consistent with Europe) Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, effective from 1st October 2006, make it unlawful to discriminate against anyone on the grounds of age. This has several implications for performance appraisals, documents used, and the training of people who conduct staff appraisals. For example, while not unlawful, the inclusion of age and date-of-birth sections on appraisal forms is not recommended (as for all other documentation used in assessing people). For further guidance about the effects of Age Equality and Discrimination on performance appraisals, and other aspects of managing people, see the Age Di

If your computer seems slower than it used to be, it probably is. My one-year old Dell laptop is much slower now than when it was new. Over time, computers get slower for a variety of reasons: files become disorganized, unnecessary software consumes resources, unused network drives slow startup, or too many programs automatically run at startup. Larger, serious issues can dramatically slow your computer's performance too. You may have a virus or need to troubleshoot problems by clean booting.
Fortunately, Windows XP includes tools to clean your computer and restore its performance. As I write this column, I'll be cleaning up my own computer and explaining how its performance improves. I'll cover Backup, Disk Cleanup, Disk Defragmenter, Add or Remove Programs, and the System Configuration tool.

I faced the same problem than I did this-
MSDOS.SYS is a hidden, read-only System file. First, go to the DOS Prompt and type in the following:
cd\
<enter>
attrib msdos.sys -h-r
<enter>
edit msdos.sys
<enter>
Follow suggestions given by tsiris
<Save file and close>
Attrib msdos.sys +r+h
exit
That's all, now reboot PC and see if that helps! |

1. Run a security scan to eliminate virus, spyware and trojan on your slow running computer. Virus and spyware not only slow down your computer but also collect users' passwords and confidential private information. They will attack your computer through the backdoor and even damage the whole system. To fix a slow computer, I advise you to detect and remove virus at first.
2. Increase virtual memory to enhance the slow computer performance. If you find yourself running out of virtual memory, or keep getting messages showing you the low virtual memory, you had better increase it immediately. To do this, please:
* Right click "My Computer"--Properties
* Click on the Advanced tab. Click Settings button under Performance.
* Click Change to reset virtual memory you want.
Of course, you also can increase virtual memory automatically by freeing up resources in your registry. This can help you fix your slow computer and improve the slow website visiting speed significantly.
3. Clean up the useless programs in the hard drive and close some unneeded Windows services. How long haven't you cleaned your hard drive? Too many programs in the hard drive will slow down the computer because there is not enough hard space for system running. In addition, Windows services make your computer runs slow. If you turn on all of the Windows services in the daily use of computer, I suggest you just disable some of them. You know that not all of the services are necessary in fact. You can fix your slow computer soon after performing this step.
4. Scan and fix registry errors. Registry is very important in Windows system. To tell you frankly, it is unavoidable to have registry errors if you install or uninstall programs and visit various website frequently. So what you need to do is to fix registry errors regularly. This can help you make your computer run faster and more stable. Cleaning registry errors also can help you fix and avoid Internet errors, blue screen of death and system crashing problem which caused by the corrupted or malicious registry entries. |

Check the free space on your primary hard drive (have at least 15% free), use disk cleanup, disk defragmener, uninstall any software that you are not using.
Download these apps:
cc cleaner
mz CPU accelerator
auslogics disk defragmenter |
