I have an avi file that I want to delete, but windows notifies me that access is denied, I don't have the right or file may be used by other program.

What to do?

The easiest way to delete the avi file is when you boot your computer in Safe Mode.
Reboot your computer and press F8 right after the POST (just before getting the Windows logo on the screen). Then, choose the first option (load Windows in Safe Mode). (For more details http://fixingmycomputer.com/Windows-XP-recovery/safe-mode.html)

Once you loaded in Safe Mode, simply use your Windows Explorer to find and delete pretty much any file that you want.

Cheers!

* Cannot delete folder: It is being used by another person or program
* Cannot delete file: Access is denied
* There has been a sharing violation.
* The source or destination file may be in use.
* The file is in use by another program or user.
* Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
